tenterhooks…

November 3rd, 2008

I have been a little quiet this weekend… On Friday night, my external hard drive, upon being plugged into JT’s computer, decided that it doesn’t have files on it anymore. I have no idea what has happened, but what I do know is that I have potentially lost 4 years worth of business and accounts, all my photos, all my music, all of my degree and my dissertation (thankfully I have the dissertation backed up on a pen drive).

It wouldn’t be quite so disastrous, if my laptop wasn’t off for repair along with an authorisation for them to wipe the heard drive if necessary. I am going to phone them as soon as they open and actually hope for once that they haven’t done anything!!! If they haven’t, I can at least recover my most recent data. The great pity was, that I shifted loads of stuff onto the external drive about a month ago to speed up my machine!!!

So it has been a little stressful……… I have learned a valuable lesson in the realm of relying on ’stuff’ and about how life never goes quite as expected (as if I didn’t know that one right now!!) My friend Simon has given us some data retrieval software, which we will try, but it depends how the stuff got deleted in the first place. I will keep you posted. Please pray for a miracle.

Why do you think my site is called Bent Frisbee. Just when it all seems to be working, life has a habit of kicking you right in the cabbage patch. Best of luck with your retrieval efforts. What is it JT does for a living…………oh yeh, IT.
