Too much news!

November 6th, 2008

Well if seems like only 5 minutes ago that the ‘in thing’ was to be eco, but since then we have gotten involved with a credit crunch, there is a new American president and now the interest rates have taken a nose dive.  I am not sure I can keep up with a life rollercoaster of such epic proportions!!

So the interest rates are at 3% - brilliant for those on tracker mortgages, rubbish for those with ISAs or savings investments.  Now call me a thick blondie thickie, but I fail to understand how this helps the impact of the crunch as UK officials claim.  We give the mortgage companies less money (hurrah!) but they have still lent us thousands.  There is less incentive to invest money because it won’t earn much interest.  Shall we spend it instead?  It would make more sense for the banks to encourage investment, surely?

There always seems to be a lot of news around this time of year.  Maybe it is because it is cold and people get miserable and start doing silly things.  Maybe in the summer they just can’t be bothered because they are outside playing with beach balls (oooh that makes me want to play with a beach ball!  What an epic piece of design…)

I think this is part of the reason why you get to Christmas, engage in all the hype and emerge from the other side feeling emotionally, physically and spiritually depleted!  The only followup you have from ‘information headache’ is the deafening voice of whats-his-face from Spandau Ballet (Neil someone?) shouting to you that there are huge reductions in the SCS sale on loop for about three months.  As if you can afford to buy a sofa after Christmas???

“Be still and know that I am God” says God.  Good advice big man.  And this is my advice to all you readers who, like me are feeling like you are lying at the bottom of the rubbish heap of imposed orders and conditions whether it be new interest rates or new sofas.  Take a moment to actually stop and know that ultimately, God is in control and that there is peace to be found in the midst of all this madness.

Well said that girl! Spandau Ballet, don’t know the advert, but the three most known members were Tony Hadley, Martin Kemp and Gary Kemp.

Martin Kemp is the guy from the DFS adverts. Just ride the wave I say.

  3. Andy Says:

DFS…the only company in the world to have never ending sales!!!!
