The first band that I played in was simply known as “Mr Scott’s band”.  Mr Scott was a rather cool ex-punk science teacher who did exciting things in lessons like put a bunsen burner tube in a bowl of washing up liquid and water, get you to pick up a handful of bubbles and then light your hands as a huge flame shot up to the ceiling!!  We loved it.

Mr Scott played a Fender Strat and decided to get a band together consisting of me, Pete Ray, Chris Rayner, Mike Waller and a few others (can’t quite remember!)  We practiced once a week and did a few school performances.  Songs included Blur Song 2 and this one, Ever Fallen in Love by the Buzzcocks, which always reminds me of those particular band days.  Shortly after, Sanctified was formed (my next band) but more on that later!!

Yes, I am pretty sure that our version was this bad!!!  I spent most of my school career playing music and hanging out in the music room - I am not sure how I ever got any work done!  I had piano lessons, violin lessons, learnt drums and guitar by myself and from whoever would show me stuff, sang in the choir and various bands and then did various open mic nights and gigs round town.
